Fraxel® is proven laser technology that can help reverse the visible effects of aging, naturally helping you look younger and more refreshed. Fraxel is effective on fine lines, wrinkles, surface scarring, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. The “smart scanning” hand piece ensures consistency and safety, while fractional lasers penetrate the top layers of skin. Fraxel light energy resurfaces the skin and initiates your skin’s natural rejuvenation process by stimulating collagen to smooth wrinkles and scars. The laser is “fractional” in that it intensively treats thin columns of the skin without affecting the surrounding tissue. This helps to reduce healing time and promotes the skin’s natural process for creating new, healthier tissue.

There are Fraxel treatments available to provide a full spectrum of skin resurfacing options from the least to the most aggressive. Fraxel Restore® is the less aggressive alternative that uses non-ablative (no open wound) technology. There are a series of treatments in which no open wound is created, and healing occurs quickly with little downtime for patients. Fraxel has added a new wavelength technology called the Thulium to its Restore laser, known as Fraxel Restore Dual®. The Thulium wavelength is especially effective for hyperpigmentation, melasma, and brown sun damage. Treatments usually last between 15-45 minutes, and most patients report the sensation of a “light sunburn” immediately after treatment. Because Fraxel works with your body’s natural skin cells, results typically take 1-3 weeks to take effect, and most patients need about 3 treatments.

On the more aggressive end is Fraxel Repair®. It is a one-time, ablative (open wound) technology that uses the CO2 wavelength of light. While we currently do not offer Fraxel Repair®, it is a potential alternative to patients with deeper lines, wrinkles, and scars.
